Garrett continues to LOVE school! It is hard to believe that his kindergarten year is almost half over! He has a love for reading and is reading like a champ! Now instead of Kurt reading him a book before bed, it is not unusual for Garrett to read to Kurt! Books are definitely his favorite thing....dinosaur books, of course! Spelling things so that he doesn't know what you are saying is no longer an option! His teacher tells us that he is excelling in school, which makes us so proud! I was extremely worried about him going, not for academics but for behavior ~ and he is doing great! I vividly remember Rocky telling me "Garrett is going to be so bored, he is going to kicked out of that school"!! LOL Thinking of the conversation brings a smile to my face! She would be so proud to know how well he is doing!
Ethan is still Ethan! Laid back, quiet and a momma's boy! He STILL has a bink ~ which he says he is ready to give to Santa (we will see about that ;)) We are working on potty training as time allows, but with all that has gone on.....I have put it off for awhile! It will come! He is so excited for Christmas and truly enjoys looking at all the lights! He is mesmerized by it all! What a fun time he will have this Christmas! He has made life so enjoyable these days!
Our family has been fortunate with not getting too sick! Up until now, we have had nothing! Ethan came down with a cold, so now Kurt and I are getting it.....but, we can deal with a cold! We stayed away from the Swine Flu THANK GOD! A few weeks ago, I broke out with shingles! What a mess that was! I try not to let work interfere with my life, but geez I have never had a school year like I have had this year! I should have known when I had to bury my grandma the day before school started that it was not going to be a good year! On a good note, I completed my Autism Certificate (and actually received it in the mail already!) I completed my next to last class for my Special Education Supervisor's certificate this month and have an internship for that starting in January! I can only pray that I get through the rest of the school year and that something different opens up for me this summer!
I hope you enjoy catching up with our family through the last month! It has been an extra special time for us because my grandma is still home and will be here for Christmas! I don't remember the last time she was here for Christmas.......the circumstances are too bad, but we are making the most of the time that she is here with us during the holidays! The next couple of days will be very exciting at our house! Check back to get the updates! I promise to not stay away so long!
Merry Christmas!
Shawn
Last night was Garrett's Christmas program at school.....it was fun! He has 8 kids in his class and they all did so well!
We got our tree up the weekend after Thanksgiving.....tradition has it that my mom usually comes over to help us! This year was no different! It was even more special since my grandma was home! She came over and truly enjoyed helping the boys decorate the tree! Christmas is going to be extra special for us this year since she is home ;) A memory that we will cherish!
Garrett loved looking at all the ornaments he had made over the past years!

We enjoy having Aunt Elaine around to help us too!
Even Papa enjoyed them ;)

Last month, Garrett's school was in the Light-Up Night parade in Franklin. It was the first event that I had went to help with! I am so glad I went, because I got to meet a lot of great people! We worked on the float Friday night for about 5 hours and the parade was Saturday! Not only was it a great time, but our float won FIRST PLACE! It was a replica of Noah's Ark! I have never been so sure of a decision that I have made as a mother as I am with the decision that we made about Garrett's schooling! I feel so blessed that Kurt pushed for him to go to St. Pat's School. It is so full of wonderful people and he is learning so much! I thank God everyday that he is there getting his education!
The morning before we decorated the tree, the boys and I made Christmas cupcakes! Garrett wanted to have a Christmas party after the tree was done! So that is exactly what we did! We iced cupcakes and had a Christmas party!
